Advanced Placement

Albany High School and the City School District of Albany's middle schools offer students a variety of Advanced Placement, honors and accelerated courses. In fact, Albany High is a Capital Region leader with 17 AP courses available to its students, and few schools in the state have more students taking AP exams each year!

 

Below is a list of AP courses offered to students in Albany's public schools:

 

English

  • AP English

  • English 9HR (Enhanced)

Social Studies

  • AP European History

  • AP American History

  • AP United State Government & Politics

  • AP Economics

Mathematics

  • Math A/B

  • Pre-Calculus, HVCC/College Credit

  • AP Math 12

  • AP Math 12-2

  • AP Statistics

Advanced Regents Sequence course requirements:

  • Grade 9: Math A2 + Math A Regents

  • Grade 10: Math B1

  • Grade 11: Math B2

  • Grade 12: AP Math or HVCC

With this sequence, students earn four math credits, take two Regents exams, earn one AP or college-level course credits.

 

Advanced Regents Diploma requirements:

  • Three math credits

  • A grade of 65% or higher on the Math A and Math B Regents

Accelerated Regents Sequence course requirements:

  • Grade 9: Math A/Bx + Math A Regents

  • Grade 10: Math Bx

  • Grade 11: Math AP or HVCC

  • Grade 12: Math AP or HVCC

With this sequence, students earn five math credits, take two Regents exams, and earn two AP or college-level course credits.

 

Accelerated Regents Diploma requirements:

  • Three math credits

  • A grade of 65% or higher on the Math A and Math B Regents

  • Living Environment: Biology Honors

  • Living Environment: AP Biology

  • Chemistry Regents Extended

  • AP Chemistry

Foreign Language

  • Chinese 1 Accelerated

  • AP French
