Readers to Leaders contest winners named

On Tuesday, June 20, 2006, the students who won the Hannaford Markets Readers to Leaders' essay contest read their winning essays to their parents, principals, teachers and others from the school district and community.

The goal of the contest was to have students write about their reading -- to share with their audience the impact that certain selected books had on their lives. Hannaford Markets, who also partnered with the school district on the Readers to Leaders book drive, wanted to sponsor the contest to see how students connected their reading to writing -- writing about titles that were important to them or benefits that reading provided them.
