Topic: Reading
changes your life
By Shavona Mann
During this school year, I read very interesting books. I soared with
birds, I have flown in planes, swam with dolphins and sharks, I have
gone to England and Paris and a couple of times to Germany. Reading has
taken me to places I never knew existed. I went to the Northern
Canadian Woods with the breath-taking book “Hatchet” by Gary
Paulsen. I went to New York City with the Olsen twins in the running by
book “New York Minute.” I was bullied by Neal Moffet in the hilarious
book called “The biggest klutz in 5th Grade” by Bill
Wallace. I have been in situations I wouldn’t even imagine being in.
My most recent book really took me away. The setting was Scotland in
the middle of a battle. Besides the war that was going on at that time,
Princes were killing their brothers just so they could become king, even
though the bravest warrior becomes king. So on in the story, a chain of
murders are linked together, all pointing to the same person, Macbeth!
These are some of the situations I was put through this year. Reading
has taught me that even when you are in one place, it doesn’t mean you
can’t reach another.
