Albany
High varsity teams receive scholar-athlete awards
Seven of the nine fall
varsity teams at Albany High School have received scholar-athlete
recognition from the New York State Public High School Athletic
Association. The award is given to teams with a composite grade-point
average of 90 or greater.
Albany High teams receiving this recognition are boys’ and girls’ cross
country, boys’ and girls’ soccer, girls’ swimming, girls’ tennis and
girls’ volleyball.
NYSPHSAA designates a predetermined number of athletes from each team
who have their GPAs used to calculate the team average. The students
whose averages are used to determine the team GPA will receive a lapel
pin and certificate from the state.
