Albany High varsity teams receive scholar-athlete
awards
Three of the five spring varsity sport teams
at Albany High School have received scholar-athlete recognition from the
New York State Public High School Athletic Association. The award is
given to team with a composite grade point average of 90 or greater.
The Albany High School teams receiving this
recognition for the spring are the boys' track team, girls' track team,
and the boys' tennis team.
NYSPHSAA designates a predetermined number
of athletes from each team to have their GPAs used to calculate the team
average. The students whose averages are used to determine the team GPA
will receive a lapel pin and certificate from the state.

The City School
District of Albany serves approximately 8,400 students in 18
elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood
schools, the district includes several
magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic
opportunities for students. The
district is more than halfway through its comprehensive facilities
project to newly
build and/or renovate nearly all of its elementary
and middle
schools. The ultimate goal of the facilities project is
to provide schools with the resources necessary to help students
succeed in the 21st century.
