Boys’ track team garners most conference all-star nominations

Eleven members of the Albany High School boys’ track team were named first-team Big 10 All-Stars in nine boys’ track and field events.

 

Albany High had more first-team track all-stars than any other Big 10 school.

 

The events and all-stars are: 

  • 100-meter dash – Kareem Morris

  • 200 – Jaah-Mel Arrington

  • 110 hurdles – DaShawn Gates

  • 400 hurdles – Matt Wu

  • Pentathalon – Evan Lacetti

  • Pole vault – Alex Schettino

  • Shot put – Chasson Skervin

  • 1600 relay – Owen Daniels and Malcolm Robertson

  • 3200 relay – Peter Barth and Greg Jung 

Albany boys fared well as second-team all-stars as well:

  • 110 hurdles – Kyle Thompson

  • Long jump – Rasheen Austin

  • High jump – Shaquille Murrell 

The team took second in the Big 10 championships on May 17, despite first-place finishes in the 100-meter, 200, 400 relays, pentathalon, shot put and pole vault. Qualifiers will compete in the Class A sectionals on May 27.
