Fagan, Morris double winners in track sectionals

Chris Fagan and Kareem Morris were double winners to lead the Albany High boys’ track team to a third-place finish in the Class AA sectionals at Guilderland High School on May 29.

 

Chris won the long jump with a Section II season-best jump of 23 feet, one-half inch. He also won the 400 hurdles, while Kareem took first in the 100 and 200.

 

In other individual events for this season's Big 10 champions, Kewsi Burgess and Chad McCray contributed fourth-place performances in the 400 and discuss, respectively. Tom Hitchcock (shot put), Alex Schettino (pole vault) and Fuad Jusic (200) contributed sixth-place finishes.

 

The Falcons’ relay teams also turned in strong performances.

 

The 400 relay team of Anthony Carrisquillo, Kareem, Chris and Fuad took second place. The 1600 relay team of Kewsi, Kareem, Chris and Fuad took fifth place, and the 3200 relay team of Kewsi, Justin Thompson, Rory Murphy and Noel Fabian placed sixth.

 

Congratulations to the Falcons on their fine overall performance. Next up are state qualifiers June 5-6.
