Motivated by a memory

Unbeaten and ranked among the top teams in New York state, the Albany High School girls' basketball team is one road win away from its second consecutive Big 10 title and looking ahead to big things in the postseason. Yet, coach Kelly Haggerty-MacNabb and her players still are motivated by a difficult memory during what has been the Lady Falcons' best season in 14 years. (MORE)

Boys' bowling team looks ahead to postseason after second-place Big 10 finish

The Albany High School boys' bowling team fell just short of its goal of winning its first Big 10 title since 2001 this winter, but the Falcons remain focused on a strong postseason. Next up for the Falcons is the Big 10 Tournament on Feb. 7 at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady, and then the Section II Tournament on Feb. 13 on the same lanes. Both juniors Eric Schoentube and Brett Graves as individuals and the Falcons as a team have the ability to win both tournaments and advance to the state tournament later this month in Syracuse, said first-year coach Bill Behrle, who helped Albany High to its last Big 10 championship as a senior 11 years ago. Director's Memo: Sports are a time commitment
Updated for the spring 2012 sports season
Sports are a time commitment.

If you are interested in participating in a varsity or junior varsity sport, please keep in mind that you are making a commitment to your team and that sport. To be fair, each player must make the commitment to be present at each practice and contest throughout the season before tryouts begin. This weighs heavily on the decisions made by coaches when they determine their rosters.

A schedule is given at the beginning of each team’s season and is also available before tryouts upon request. (MORE)
