If
you were a River Rats fan, you probably saw Zachary Bennett at a game at
the Times Union Center.
A goalie, his jersey is number 2 and it has a
“Z” on it. He’s the 10-year-old River Rat, the one in the motorized
wheelchair.
Zachary suffers from neurofibromatosis, an inherited
disorder that causes tumors to grow on his nerves.
He’s had more than 20
surgeries, including amputation of both legs.
Despite his health
problems, he has a perpetually positive outlook on life.
He’s an
extraordinary person with an indomitable spirit, a contagious smile and
more courage than a superhero.
