Lottery applications are being accepted through March 31
for seats beginning in kindergarten in the City School District of
Albany’s three magnet elementary schools.
Please click here to download an application.
A magnet school is a specialized program that focuses
instruction on a particular theme. The district offers families a choice
of three magnet schools (see related stories below).
Magnet-school programs follow New York state learning
standards and the district’s curriculum for English language arts,
science, social studies and math. That’s in addition to the specifically
designed theme for each magnet school.
The magnet lottery will be held April 16 in conjunction
with the new prekindergarten lottery. All magnet prekindergarten seats
will be filled through the new lottery; the magnet lottery will cover
grades K-5 or K-6, depending on the school.
Please call our Magnet Schools Office for more
information at 475-6551.
